1. What stake do OBC’s have...?
The muscle power of Ayodhya temple campaign
is mobilized mainly from among the Other backward classes(OBC’s), but the Sangh
Parivar has no programme to change their
social status in the Brahminic civil
society. In terms of Religious life Schedules caste and tribes look towards
Christians and Muslims, where as OBC’s still remain directionless, to remain
only to be used by Hindutva forces.
After the Babri Masjid demolition, it was
found that, it was the OBC’s who were in the lead of rioting of the Hindutva
forces. There are hardly any upper caste youth in the jail records. Christians
and Muslims have come to see OBC’s as a mercenary social force. Neither OBC’s
have good opinion about the Christian community as they are not able to get into
the top missionary schools.
Ram Janma Bhoomi Nyaas(RJN) and many other
large Parivar organizations are headed by the upper castes. The OBC’s are not
eligible to be part of the leadership. If we look at the ownership of top
industrial concerns and the vast service sector all are in the hands of Dwja
caste where as the urban econmy is in
the hands of Sangh Parivar forces.
Giriraj
Kishore, in 2001
“ Hindu society cannot afford to do away with the
caste system.”
According to him the notion of equal rights to all castes
will violate the basic rights of the upper castes. Why then in spite of all
this the OBC’s are participating in the Ayodhya issue? Why are they still ready
to flow their blood? BJP came to power by the blood spilt during the time of
Babri Masjid destruction. It’s apt to note that there wasn’t a single OBC
minister in Vajpayee government. In spite of this they are marching towards
Ayodhya...Why?
The OBC population has highest number of
unemployed who provide the muscle power for small benefits offered. By and
Large these are left out of the modern English education. Hindutva forces that
use them have not done anything for their education. For the purposes such as
RJ movement, the OBC’s are treated as Hindus. But when the question of
modernizing them they are ‘others.’
By
keeping these OBC youth uneducated and unemployed, Hindutva forces have a
readymade army.
Of Late, OBC children are admitted into the
Saraswati Shishu Mandirs mostly to train them as Hindu militants. The children
of top Hindutva forces study in English Medium schools and to become future
NRI’s. They become patriots from abroad and finance temple construction and the
OBC youth have to perform the physical rioting and in the process their small
economies get ruined.
Even the manual labour that these people
were involved in, is replaced by tractors and modern equipments. Thus the
Hindutva economy has deliberately trapped them in this dragnet.
Ch 2: Dalit, OBC and Muslim Relations (The Hindu, 29 May, 2002)
The participation of Dalits Adivasis and OBC’s
in the Gujarat Carnage has raised several questions with regard to the relationship
between scheduled castes, Scheduled tribes, OBC’s and Muslims. Hindutva forces
have succeeded in breaking this unity. Muslims, unlike Christians do not know
how to understand caste questions and handle riot situations.
After BJP came to power, when Hindutva
forces attacked Christians in several places, the Dalits and Adivasi
involvement was nil. The OBC’s have ambiguous relations with Christians and
have inimical relation with the Muslims. Hindutva forces have succeeded to project
Muslims as an enemy to OBC’s.
During the Gujarat violence, Christian
intelligentsia launched a global campaign against the fascist nature of Parivar
and damaged its credibility from getting a NGO status. By Muslims failed to
build a rapport between SC, ST, OBC’s at the ground level. They adapted the
techniques of mass defense and remained inward looking. If the matter was taken
to UN, the violence would have been reduced.
Muslims even in the history, did not try to
understand the caste issues, thinking they are spiritual and should not be interfered.
Post independent, no Muslim has worked for Dalits, Adivasis and OBC’s. The
bridges are built only when the suffering / oppressed community gets the
support of the other community at a day today basis.
Though the British rulers were
exploitators, they took keen interest in caste issues.
Christian missionaries in
the past had introduced the educations to the oppressed groups whether they
embraced Christianity or not. Ambedkar, in his writing s has acknowledged the
support of Christian missionaries. The educational and health services made
their activity a socially integrated one. But Muslim intellectuals have not
taken the social causes of these people. Thus in these people, there is no deep
sympathy for them.
Muslim intellectuals must learn from
Christian missionaries and work among Dalits, Adivasis and OBC’s. The oppressed
must learn to work for each other’s liberation and that is the best way to
prevent another Gujarat.
3.
The Rise of Modi(The
Hindu, 26 December, 2002)
Narendra Modi’s victory with two thirds of
majority has signaled the emergence of a strong independent OBC leader in the
BJP. Earlier Kalyan Singh tried to emerge as an independednt leader but Parivar
didn’t allow him to. For a long time, no independent OBC leader is allowed to
emerge from within Parivar. Only Vajapayee and Advani were allowed this space,
because they had economic clout with them.
Modi used the Parivar policy of deliberately
attacking he constructed enemy-Muslims in more organized manner than Brahmin
leaders did. He mobilized muscle power better than Advani did in 1992. He seems
to have realized that only through violence, and not by sacrifice, an
individual can become a hero.
Ever since Hindutva forces
began to organize caste ridden Indian society, the problem has been, how to use
Sudras and OBC’s into its fold without giving them equal rights in the
spiritual fold. So they gave them the idea that they are part of nation
building, without in reality giving them the share in the national wealth. This
was needed in order to keep them inside the Parivar hold as there they were slowly moving towards Christians
and Muslims. The Sangh parivar organized a large section of OBC’s which neither
Congress nor the communist parties did.
Whenever BJP needs muscle power
it has to turn to OBC’s within and it is in this context Advani tried to give
small roles to some of the OBC leaders like Kalyan Singh and Vinay Katiyaar in
UP, Uma Bharati in MP and Modi in Gujrath, in Sangh Parivar. Slowly OBC’s ambition for political leadership was known,
but without having any vision for socio-spiritual transformation of the Indian Society.
But the Kanshi Ram slogan of “ Our
votes for our seats “ badly hit BJP plan.
Thus Hindutva forces made more
and more efforts to include OBC’s so as to provide Hindutva its muscle power.
Parivar had practical schemes for OBC’s.
E.g. Participate in muscle power mobilizing and get benefits, which was
more attractive than the theoretical promise of a heaven by Congress and
Communists. After Babri Masjid demolition, OBC’s got a little more recognition
within the Hindu Brahmininic Civil Society that they had craved for so long.
Those wanting to be leaders in
Sangh Parivar, had only to abuse Muslims in the fiercest language possible.
Modi and Uma Bharati could do that well. In congress you needed to be an
educated man knowing to speak the secular language. P.V. Narasimharao’s time
was a real Bhrahmininic time where all OBC leaders were systematically set
aside. Communists didn’t nurture any OBC
leaders.
Today Modi has ememrged as hero
of OBC’s within Sangh Parivar, where he can even dare to ignore Vajpayee and
set his own agenda. He has complete control over Gujarat-mini Hindu Rastra.
How could he do that…? By
deploying the muscle power of OBC’s under his command and asking the upper
caste leaders of BJP simply to supervise his command structure in attacking the
imaginary enemy, constructed by same
Bhrahminic theocraticians.
As Hinduism did not allow
Dalits to enter temples, they began to move towards Islam, Christianity and
Buddhism. If the secularists and communalists do not allow OBC’s to grow in
their organizations, Modi will become their national leader and continue to be
a muscle power for violence.
